I had about 7 albums by the man until a buddy of mine hooked me up with 59 Sun Ra albums, I am in Jazz euphoria!!!

Yeah, Sun Ra has quite a plethora of recordings out there. I still haven't gotten around to collecting much of his stuff (though I do have a couple private piano recordings). The dude played so many styles of music that it's impossible to fully appreciate his supreme oddness.

Some GREAT players passed through his band over the years, one of my favorites is tenor man John Gilmore.

One of my buddies has a large number of his recordings, I"ll try to get some suggestions from him.

Stender, I recommend starting with The Nubians Of Plutonia and then Angels & Demons At Play.

My friend suggested starting with the Saturn recordings from the late 50's, early 60's. Even that stuff is all over the map, but many great albums.

There's also a killer album on Savoy called "The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra" that I had forgotten about. Recorded in 1961 with the John Gilmore era band, awesome.
