Sorry I missed this the first time around. I'm really only familiar with the first 3 studio albums and the "Live In Concert" album from the James Gang Rides Again tour.

Of those, the live album is my favorite, primarily for the incredible 18 minute version of "Lost Woman".

I'll have to go through and track some of this stuff down soon.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Finally! No prob man, the Bolin years are my fave. That live one is killer but Thirds is kinda weak.

I used to have a copy of James Gang Rides Again on vinyl and I wore that out...especially the song "Bomber" which actually quotes Dave Brubeck at one point.

Ashes, The Rain & I and Tend My Garden are a couple other favorites.

I didn't realize that the James Gang were so prolific. I only have a best of comp, which I enjoy very much, but I thought they only put out like 3 albums or so.

I guess I always assumed after Joe Walsh jumped ship to be an Eagle, the band just dissolved. I didn't know the rest of the band carried on without him.

They were a Cleveland band. Walsh got a chance for a record deal of his own, but only him, not the rest of the band. So he bailed overnight and went solo, leaving the band to regroup. They had a large following in the area, so they were able to continue.

Yeah man they went through quite a few line-up changes. 'Alexis' is a great tune.

I had the "Rides Again" album at one point, but nothing grabbed me very much other than Funk 49. I should give it another go!

I really like the Wash and Bolin eras, given your taste in music and how versatile you are I would give Bang and Miami a listening to, SG.

Bomber from Rides Again is probably their magnum opus. He even borrows a riff from Dave Brubeck in the mid-section. That's really their best all-around studio album, it's worth having cause it flows together nicely.
