Awesome track. I love Hank, he was just the ultimate in hip.

Hank has become one of my faves, I just wish I had the nerdiness behind Jazz like I do other genres. I wish I had the ear for all the intricacies like you do.

For some reason I just "got it" right out of the gate...and I listened constantly, more studied than listened really. I also had a couple very knowledgeable jazz friends and they schooled me in all the good shit, plus recommended books, I read a ton of jazz books between 1997 and 2005.

I wouldn't recommend that method to everyone, I burnt myself out real bad and it's taken several years for me to get back "in the mood" to pull out my jazz recordings more often.

Max Roach-Garvey's Ghost, man apart from the annoying "vocals" this is an otherwise killer tune! T.R.A.M. suffers from the same irritating vocal stylings. Maybe I just need more time to get accustomed to that particular kinda thing to truly appreciate it. I'm not closing the door on that possibility yet. Abbey Lincoln is talented though, I won't deny that.

For some reason "Sweet Dream" by Jethro Tull has been stuck in my head for days, so much so that I even included it on a compilation I put together.

Then this morning I decided to listen to "Madison Square Garden 1978" and sure enough...Sweet Dream is the opening track.

Guess I can't get away from the damn thing...

That was the first Pink Floyd song I ever heard, I became an immediate fan for life.

This song is how I feel a lot of the time. Behind the frills the lyrics are kick ass.

Bruce Springsteen Dancing In The Dark

I get up in the evening, and I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the moring, I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired, man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help
(Chorus)
You can't start a fire, you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark

Message just keep getting clearer, radio's on and I'm moving round the place
I check my look in the mirror wanna change my clothes my hair my face
Man I ain't getting nowhere I'm just livin in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere baby I just know that there is

(Chorus)

You sit around getting older there's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders come on baby the laughs on me
Stay on the streets of this town and they'll be carving you up alright
They say you got to stay hungry hey baby I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action I'm sick of sitting 'round here trying to write
This book
I need a love reaction come on baby give me just one look

(Chorus)
You can't start a fire, sittin' 'round cryin' over a broken heart
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark

You can't start a fire, worryin' about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark

Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

Hey baby!

The Moody Blues-Nights In White Satin from my After Hours II playlist. That song is always a welcome treat.

Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of A New Day. Ian Anderson always wrote amazing acoustic pieces, his writing/arranging on the guitar is underrated.

I guess I never realize when I'm listening to Tull's music that the acoustic stuff is Ian, I always assume it's Barre.
