| Gotta get this for sure, I've always liked that title "Valleys Of Neptune". I still need to get his other Dagger Records releases. | |

| I will definitley be getting this CD, btw an the song (or at least extert) 'Valley of Neptunes' was released by Reprise label on a boxset 'Lifelines: The Jimi Hendrix Story' back in 1990(?), this boxset has long been out of print. | |

| I heard a track from this on the radio in the car yesterday. I forget the title of it, but I must say it sounded pretty bitchin'.
The D.J. was like a little kid on Christmas when he announced it... he was like "I've been in radio for 30 years and until now I've never had the opportunity to say this... here's something NEW from Jimi Hendrix!"

| I haven't sampled any of it yet, but my best friend here in Austin told me he ordered the limited edition vinyl single for me. of course, I have a good bit of this stuff in "grey market" form, but it will be nice to hear it actually mixed and mastered. | |

| Up.
Some more Hendrix news and this is actually pretty good.
#1 - there is a Wal Mart exclusive CD single for Valleys Of Neptune, it's worth grabbing because it has the song "Peace In Mississippi" as the b-side and that's not on the upcoming CD.
#2 - The entire Hendrix catalog is being reissued again...WAIT!...before you let out a collective groan, there is good news here. Eddie Kramer is unhappy with the results of the "BRICKWALLED" CD mastering on the last batch, if you've ever tried listening to the entire FIrst Rays disc you'll know what I'm talking about. That mastering ruined the dynamic range inherent in these recordings. So the new discs are being mastered again WITHOUT using massive amounts of compression and/or digital limiting. So they will be faithful to the sound of the original master tapes. All the albums are coming with bonus documentary DVDs.
I believe they are going to be doing a separate all-analog LP reissue series.

| I didn't mind the FROTNRS & SSD mastering, but then again I never heard the original mixes. I so fucking sick and tired of buying an artists discography and then the record companies end up re-releasing them with extra stuff, I'll just download it. I looked for TVON single at Wal-Mart today but we never get any good stuff. | |

In this case, I don't mind this re-issue. My Hendrix collection is spotty to begin with, missing a few, so getting them all in a newly remastered set would be nice. And his discography isn't that exensive. When you cut out all the compiliations and what-not, it's only a handful of studio albums. I do have my father's original vinyl copy of Are You Experienced framed and hanging on the wall by my bar.

By the way, I know that "live albums" aren't that popular these days, but please realize that Band Of Gypsys could be the best Hendrix album...at least it's always been my favorite.

| Listen to detuned, even if you are not a fan of live albums 'Band of Gypsys' is worth grabbing.
Thanks for the tip detuned next time I am at Walmart I will look for that Hendrix single, I am glad you mentioned since I never even look at singles since I am more of an album guy.
Like Akel, I am huge Hendrix fan but as much as the sound maybe improved 10000% I am not going to go back and rebuy the same albums, Elektra records did the same thing with The Doors with better mixes and extra tracks but I didn't bite then either.

| I can't find the single my friend bought me, I misplaced it and I've looked everywhere! I was gonna put Peace In Mississippi on my ipod but now I'm screwed.
I also found out just now that there's a Target exclusive with two extra songs (Slow Version & Trash Man) and we don't have a Target around these parts so I'm shit outta luck.

| Next up on the Hendrix release schedule....
A retrospective box set of material, including his early pre-Experience sideman appearances and other un-issued items (personal demos, apartment recordings, unreleased rehearsals, etc).
Then, this is the one I'm excited about...
The Royal Albert Hall concert from 1969 will finally be released!!!!!

| Nice!
I read your comment on HOM D, and Hear My Music is one I've been salivating over for a while now, in fact all of the Dagger records ones. But, I thought Dagger was the Hendrix family, and Janie in particular, record company to release all this Hendrix stuff after the Experience Hendrix label in the late '90's. Are the Dagger records releases considered by the Hendrix family to be genuine Hendrix releases? Correct me oh Wise Sage of all things Hendrix.
I really want the Dagger records releases but don't really know much about them, and I can't find them, I'll check amazon, inform me someone please.

| I have a few of Jimi's sideman projects already, one with Little Richard, The Isley Bros., and the one with Traffic, the quality is fair but I hope they are included for better sound quality.
D, do you know if they will release Woke Up And Found Myself Dead or the recordings with Arthur Lee/Love?

| Not sure about the Arthur Lee stuff.
Dagger Records is owned by Experience Hendrix which is co-owned by the Hendrix family & Paul Allen. It's an offshoot "Official Bootleg" label, online sale only.

| Cool, thanks. I 'd just hate to get the Dagger Records stuff only to see Experience Hendrix release the same material over & over again. | |

| I doubt that they will ever officially release 'I Woke UP and Found Myself Dead', the title alone will make it so the Estate will never release this album.
Also Jim Morrison's estate I am sure would block it, with Morrison's drunken rant how he is going to f**k his baby up the poop shoot.

| Even though the quality is fairly low, I hope they release the jam session between Hendrix & John McLaughlin one of these days. | |

Well, it's sloppy as hell...and McLaughlin is playing an acoustic. But hell, how can you NOT pick up something like that?
