I actually made a ZZ Top compilation back around 2006 or so. I still have it in iTunes, here's the tracklist I put together..it's called "Don't Mess With Texas" and it's not strictly chronological.

1. Tush
2. Waiting For The Bus
3. Jesus Just Left Chicago
4. Precious & Grace
5. Backdoor Love Affair
6. La Grange
7. Fool For Your Stockings
8. Cheap Sunglasses
9. Arrest For Driving While Blind
10. I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide
11. She Loves My Automobile
12. Just Got Paid
13. I Thank You
14. Thug
15. Sheik
16. She's Just Killing Me

It might seem like an odd comp, but it sounds pretty good...I'm jamming it now. Very Happy

Not bad at all, I'd just like to see some off of all the early stuff and more Rhythmeen hehe. I almost put Sheik, Nasty Dogs And Funky Kings and Asleep In The Desert on mine. MIne is not in chronological order, I hate when "hits" cd's are in that order. I was gonna call mine 'That Good Ol' Band From Texas' but chose the '71-'81 b/c I'm gonna makes comps of the other two eras as well at some point.

Though I mostly like the early stuff you guys are talking about... Velcro Fly has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.

I hate Velcro Fly with a passion, Sleeping Bag is kewl. As far as that era goes Rough Boy is prolly my fave.

Yeah I can see that, cause the 80s on up were too poppy and overplayed, and the drums?.........uh sorry Frank, but really? I think they tried to hard a sounding, I don't know popular?

I don't think I could ever listen to Eliminator again...in fact Thug is the only song I can tolerate from it any longer. Of course the 80's production is horrid, but in all honesty the band themselves sound like they were sleepwalking through this era.

Same here, I'm tired of Eliminator and the rest of that era overall. I never could get much into it anyway.
