...is sit at my desk with my bass, my keyboard and my Boss and write songs..but can I do that? Hell no...I have to do school work or clean or paint or some other get-in-the-way bullshit...

Argh!!! I'm tired of being the siger on someone else's music...haha!! I want to at least try to get out what I hear in my head or at the very least see what I come up with...

I would like to write and once at one time not bad at it, but life takes its toll, oh well the last thing this world needs is another hack writer so maybe its for the best.

A couple weekends ago I managed to get 4 scratch demos down on the Boss...hopefully I can turn them over to a buddy of mine to help me flesh them out...

Thanks man. They're nothing too extravagant...just a couple of parts each...one, maybe two changes...just skeletal beginnings that need more work...I need people who can actually play to help me expand on them. I got a buddy of mine I've been writing songs with (his music, my words) who is interested in hearing them to maybe work into what we're doing...he's fantastic!

I'll get an idea in my head, program a simple drum beat (the pre-programmed loops never work right for me in terms of where the kick is, etc), play my bass part, add any other little nuance ideas I may have (guitar bits, vocals, sound effects, etc) bounce it down to MP3 and voila...a little 90-120 second demo snippet...I have a couple of those lying around but have not bounced down these newest 4 yet...

I got Sonar Cakewalk but MIDI blows goats so I'm gonna get Fruity Loops for drum tracks. I never seem to have time anymore though, I hate full time jobs...

Dude what do you plan to do w/your music?

My computer isn't powerful enough to run a lot of that...so I don't try. I use a Boss digital 8-track that records to flash memory cards.

I really don't know what my plans are, actually. It's the first time I've led a project on my own and it all depends on how the songs turn out. They need more than 2 parts back and forth...haha! Some may end up on this other thing I'm doing with this guy if he thinks they fit and can tweak them into form. If he can tweak them and they don't fit, I'll call it something else. As it stands now, I don't want to try the label route...I've done that for everything I've been on and it's not anything I'm interested in. Mostly because I feel like the songs may be too weird for any label to take a gamble on. I may just get the songs to a state I'm happy with and let people download them for free. I like things kind of lo-fi sounding and the main label I've worked with wants things all edited and slicked up...I don't want that.
