I also had a history teacher that loved Red Dawn. Such an awesomely bad 80's movie.

His name wasn't Fritzinger by any chance was it? Seriously, the guy at my H.S. was a grade-A nutball for this flick. He screened it for the class and went on and on about how we needed to pay attention to it cuz we'd have to do something just like the kids in "Red Dawn" when the shit hit the fan. Very Happy

I personally had no problem with the idea of running off into the woods and learning how to kill Russkies myself (though there aren't many woods to hide in around Suburbia!) but judging from the reaction from most of the spoiled-ass yuppie larva in my class, if the Russians HAD attacked, we would've been pretty much fucked. Very Happy

Nice FF, io never knew there were Brazilian vinyl pressings w/VV on the cover. Even if they are fakes so to speak I'd love to snag one!

Yeah they started popping up in about 2008 or so. I bid on a few, but they always went over 100 bucks, too rich for my blood.

I'm surprised that anybody got taken by those "Brazilian" Creatures LP's. It looks like the "Vinnie" face is very poorly airbrushed over Ace's pic to me. How could anybody look at that and think it was legit?

Yep that's how it looked to me too. Id've paid about 10 bucks for it though, even though it was a bootleg. The prices they got were ridiculous.

Oh yeah, if I saw one for ten bucks I'd grab it just as a collector's item/conversation piece, but I wouldn't go nuts like some people apparently did.

Anyway, the newest IT CAME FROM THE BARGAIN BIN entry is up, and this time the lucky winner is 2007's "I AM OMEGA," the uber-low-budget knockoff of "I Am Legend" from our pals at the Asylum:

Anyway, got another one up today (slow day @ work)... the victim is 2000's mountain-climbing action flick, "VERTICAL LIMIT" with Chris O'Donnell and Scott Glenn

http://fatfreddyscat.hubpages.com/hub/It-Came-From-the-Bargain-Bin-VERTICAL-LIMIT-2000

I've got another movie review in the works and then I think it'll be time to get back to the METAL for a while...

^^ Thanx for stoppin' by as always, Gersh.

Bored this afternoon, so I whipped up a new Hub on some of my favorite bands and how they dealt with the dreaded Lead Singer Change over the years.

Great read, FF. I prefered the "dreaded lead singer change" in Motley Crue, Van Halen and Black Sabbath a lot better...

Cool man. Glad you dug it. Got another one...
In honor of the forthcoming new Overkill album, I wrote a slobbering fanboy Hub entry about the band...

Nice article on the singer swapping man, yeah I think bands like Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Van Halen totally got an upgrade with there second vocalist, some not so much, but hell the show must go on. Great read man.

Thanks dudes!!

And hey, this is kinda cool... one of my old Hubs about Marvel's '70s Star Wars comic books got an out-of-the-blue boost from GeekChicDaily.com today when they featured it in a block of Star Wars related stuff on their site. Dunno how it turned up on their radar, but thanks to whoever brought it to their attention...almost 100 views for this sucker in one day, nearly a year after I first posted it? Shit yeah, I'll take that action. Very Happy

Upgrade? I've never looked at it that way.

Ozzy era Sabbath is a different band entirely, there is little stylistic similarity between the two.

Same with the Dianno era of Maiden, it's just a different animal, not better or worse...I'm glad we have both.

I think you might have been smoking something when you wrote Van Halen. lol!

I was never a Van Hagar fan but you gotta admit, in terms of record sales and overall popularity, trading Roth for Hagar was a definite "upgrade" for VH. They sold more records with Hagar than with Roth.

I think Roth sold more but Hagar charted a lot higher, etc. I gotta read that overkill blog, I am a huge fanboy myself.

Record sales mean nothing to me in judging the merits of an artist.

VH was recording safe, homogenized garbage with Hagar. The biggest songs were sappy keyboard driven ballads aimed at the charts. Dreams, Love Walks In, etc.

No thanks, I hated that stuff in the 80's and even more now.

The only album with Hagar that I liked somewhat was F.U.C.K. because musically it was a little edgier, but the songwriting was still mostly blah.
