M-O-M - Check out Arch/Matheos. 2011 album. Arch STILL sounds that good.
I'm not sure why, but Arch's voice is like fingernails on chalkboard to me, I literally cannot listen to him, I have to shut the stereo off the instant he starts singing.

I don't think it's good for me, I really like the music from that Arch/Matheos.

Can't you just take the vocals out, or is that impossible without the source material?

You'd need the multi-tracks to do it cleanly.

Gentle Giant - Knots & Octopus Features [Live 1974]
This is jaw dropping good. The vocal harmonies going on are insane, and then it's followed by an equally insane acoustic guitar duel. Just watch this.

THANKS! These guys are great, I have their first 3 albums so far and dig them all. I need to keep exploring their catalog. The vocal harmonies really set them apart.

GG is AWESOME!!! I've got all there studio albums. There only weak albums are The Missing Piece and Giant For A Day. I like Civilian it's kinda like their Drama album simple, but dark!

This is probably my favorite Gentle Giant song.
In a Glass House
The guitar riff that kicks in during the middle is just heavy as hell.

Great live track that should definitely have gotten a studio recording. It seems like it would fit nicely on Red.

I prefer Crimson's live recordings about 95% of the time.

Strip The Soul (live) - Porcupine Tree (from the Anesthetize DVD)

It's been a while, so I figured I'd breath some life back into this thread.
And here's what I was jamming earlier, Brand X. Phil Collins drums on their first two albums, Unorthodox Behaviour and Moroccan Roll.

Those albums are what changed my opinion of Phil Collins.

That's a great performance, one of the first things I listened to when I first started getting into them.

Anyone heard of these guys? The Von Hertzen Brothers
They're a prog-rock band from Finland. Classic Rock magazine has been swinging from their nutsack for quite some time now. I finally checked out some of their stuff on YouTube. Sounds pretty cool to me. Nice vocal harmonies. That video is a new song from a best of comp coming out later this month. That tune is a bit more "rockin" than some of thier other stuff I've heard.
4 albums out and a 'Best of' comp. Right now, they're all pricey imports and out of my price range, but I'll be keeping my eye on them.

More prog metal than prog-rock, but who cares?
Fates Warning - The Eleventh Hour [Live at Dynamo]
This is one of the best tracks off of Parallels, and Ray's vocals are awesome live.

How about some History Prog for ya!
Some really good programmed drums there. It is 1991, after all.

You know, my main issue with 80s and beyond prog is the cheesy synth sounds, it just totally kills it for me.
Hammond organs, Fender Rhodes, Clavinet, Wurlitzer, Mellotron, Piano, Moog & Oberheim (or at least samples of those sounds) is the sound of prog to me.
