I really like the guitar in that one; surprisingly jazzy.

The whole album is built on groove and open space, Javier is really influenced by Jazz, Classical and Flamenco. I like the whole EP b/c it's a different beast from AAL altogether.

This one is interesting... and a twofer. I don't like the way the tunes get cutoff, but there are two people who have big hits in the 80s that are in Stevie's band.
Can you name the two artists and the hits?

Michael Sembello had a hit with "Maniac" and he's the hippie dude. Deniece Williams in one of the background singers and she had a hit with "Let's Hear It For The Boy". God I hate that song. The group was called Wonderlove. Great version of "Contusion", I can't believe the dude playing all the tasty leads on it is the "Maniac" guy. All those Orange amps make me green with envy.

Bingo!!!!
I was trippin' when I found out, too! That's the Maniac guy? I didn't know he played guitar like that!!! He kinda looks uncomfortable like he's looking for cues to the changes in the songs. All those Orange amps are quite the site.
His whole band is pretty badass!
Some interesting things: Contusion wouldn't be released until 1976 Sembello studied with Pat Martino also, Sembello was chosen as one of the core artists who worked on Songs in the Key of Life. Tonto's Expanding Head Band's Margouleff and Cecil were a big influence on Wonder's classic 70s albums Music Of My Mind thru Fulfillingness' First Finale as associate producers, engineers and programmers (and winning them an engineering Grammy for Talking Book).
Oh......... that will be the second R&B band that I have seen using Orange Amps. Heatwave's original guitar player used Orange Amps.
This should be released officially. I never knew Stevie was so kickass live!

I noticed Sembello looked a little lost at times. At first I was looking at the background singer closest to me and thought that was Dionne Warwick
I think you put me on a Stevie Wonder kick now...

The young jazzers that I go see on monday nights, played this last night, with guitar instead of piano.
It was nice. This song has a great groove to it. I gotta get me some more Coltrane!

Blaze Foley is a name I'm familiar with but just by judging him based on looks (I don't know why) I never wanted to jam his stuff but this was pretty good.

Great band. I love that era of Talking Heads.
I've been listening to this band from New Orleans called Abigail's Ghost that has some interesting stuff, they are definitely in the Porcupine Tree/Riverside/The Pineapple Thief camp but put their own spin on things. Several of the songs on the album feature violin and they get some nice arrangements going on.
Plus they are catchy as hell.

I'm totally adding that to a spotify playlist later.
