Dave was about as hip as you can get for a white dude, amazing player and what a long, respectable career he had, still performing until shortly before his death. One of the jazz greats and also one of the few survivors from the 50s golden age.
Dave takes a really adventurous solo on this classic performance of "These Foolish Things" from the "Jazz At Oberlin" album.

Dave was awesome, he was the reason I started really getting into jazz. Sad news, man...
