The only musical I like is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Paint Your Wagon is the one song I always make fun of when someone brings up musicals, I dont think Ive seen it all the way through. I'm with Freddy though, Rocky Horror was good.

That's the first one that comes to mind. "Grease" was ok too, before VH-1, USA, TNT & TBS played the shit out of it. It seemd like it was their default-go-to-movie when they had nothing else to play.

Paint Your Wagon is an odd duck, definitely a cult classic, but I wouldn't say it was near my top favorite musicals.

Singin' In The Rain would probably be my personal favorite.

Olivia Newton-John looked fantastic in "Grease."

Ugh, I was never one for "Grease." My Mom was a HUGE fan of that movie (in fact, I think my parents even saw it on Broadway in the 70s before it became a movie) when I was a kid and she played the soundtrack album endlessly, to the point where if I ever hear it again I am going to stick a fork in my eyeball.

The only thing worse than "Grease" was "Grease 2." Laughing

Being raised by a mom who was the singer and dancer in the family... I grew up around going to local productions, and started going to Broadway shows since I started college.

I've seen most of the biggies except Les Mis... my all time fav is still Cats, but Mamma Mia came damn close to unseatting it. I was in Germany back when Abba hit big in the 70s.

I haven't seen many of the classic hollywood musicals... most of what I have seen has been from 70s onward. I can go with Grease, Hairspray and Chicago... Mamma Mia doesn't make the list simply on Brosnan's miscasting... I cringe whenever he is going to sing.

Other musical movies... Pirate Movie (Ted Hamilton kicks all sorts of ass as The Pirate King), South Park the Movie (such a shame most of the songs couldn't get an Oscar nod because they were parodies of songs from major musicals and movies) and Repo- The Genetic Opera (if you like horror and musicals/ opera, a MUST see).

From the tv world... the Buffy the Vampire Slayer ep "Once More With Feeling", as well as the other Joss Whedon created , and Emmy plus Hugo Award winning musical production Dr. Horrible's Sing A Long Blog. Classic.

A few years ago, my sister-in-law bought us tickets to see "Spam-a-Lot". I went there with an open mind, but I really didn't like it at all.

I love, love, love Monty Python movies. They are classics. 'Holy Grail' is great as is. Adding lush orchestral music, dancing, outlandish costums and over-emoting, "light in the loafers" actors that sledgehammer the jokes did nothing to enhance my viewing pleasure.

I swear that every blonde, big-haired porn queen of the 1980s from Ginger Lynn on down, all based their look on "Sandy" after her late-in-the-movie makeover.
