Does "The Wall" bring tears to your eyes? Does "Quadrophenia" do it for ya? Do you have a hard on for "Ziggy Stardust"? Is "2112" going to be played at your funeral?

| I was wondering how long it would take for Mindcrime to be mentioned. | |

| Spec mentioned a different type of concept album in the now listening to thread.
Dave Brubeck's Time Out is an instrumental record, but it's concept was to use odd time signatures...stuff that usually wasn't associated with jazz at the time...and use that as the basis for each composition. So every tune was written around a particular time signature(s) and that helped create a unique experience.
So it doesn't necessarily have to be a lyrical concept.

| The Eagles-Desperado, not prog but a good concept album nonetheless. Iron Maiden-Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Savatage-Streets Jethro Tull-Thick As A Brick Pink Floyd-The Wall Jethro Tull-Aqualung Chase-Ennea (the second half is based on the Greek gods, I fookin' love it mayne). The Moody Blues-On The Threshold Of A Dream Pink Floyd-Dark Side Of The Moon The Moody Blues-To Our Children's Children's Children's The Moody Blues-In Search Of The Lost Chord Paul Kantner-Blows Against The Empire
To name a few. | |

| Mindcrime was more or less my introduction to the whole "concept album" and one of the few that I can actually follow, so it gets the nod from me. | |

| If it's true that the new Rush is gonna be a concept album I'm certain it'll be one of the best as well. | |

| Reaaally old thread, but some of my favorites include:
Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime Pink Floyd - Animals -- (at least, I assume it's a concept record, lol) WASP - The Crimson Idol Jag Panzer - Thane to the Throne Opeth - Still Life The Who - Tommy Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
There's probably more, but those are just what came to mind.

| The Small Faces-Ogden's Nut Gone Flake
even though the second side is the only part with a story, it's still noteworthy of being one of the first "rock operas"

| Wow! I'm lame and late..............
The Who- Tommy(has to be the first one I bought and liked. My first Who album, as well!) Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon (I know it's a cliche choice, but I really do dig this album) Jethro Tull - A Passion Play (this one gets a lot of hate...... I enjoy it) Pretty Things - SF Sorrow (didn't know about these guys until Bigelf covered "Baron Saturday")
I'm sure there is more , but I'm tired and can't think of anymore............

| A Passion Play is a killer album. Maybe not quite as good as TAAB, but damn close.
