A movie that defies any and all categorization and one of the most original films of the 1980's. If anything, this movies gets better as time passes by and nothing new takes it's place.
This is how you make a comic book film...NO RULES.

I remember this movie from back then, but I don't recall actually watching it on Showtime or The Movie Channel. I might have been watching it while I had the High Head Blues..... which would explain a lot
Puttin' it on the que!!!

I remember there was a lot of hype for "Buckaroo Banzai" when it was released but it came & went pretty quick. I know there were ads for it in a lot of Marvel Comics at the time and I think Marvel even released a comics adaptation.
I only saw the movie once and it was years ago, probably when it first ran on HBO. About all I remember is that Peter "RoboCop" Weller was in it and that I didn't really "get" it.
It's one of those flicks I've always meant to revisit but have never gotten round to it.

My sense of humor has gotten more twisted as the years have gone by so I would imagine that by now I'd probably "get" B.B.
At the time I saw it I was in my mid-teens and I honestly didn't know what the hell to make of it. "Is it science fiction? Is it a comedy? Is it an action movie? Ouch. My brain hurts."

I watched this last night with the wife and we were laughing and at the same time saying this is the stupidest thing I've seen, that was some crack head stuff for sure. And it's pronounced John Boot-tay. This movie had some of my favorite actors except for the Barkin chick who I think looks like a dude in drag, IMO. It's worth checking out, thanks for suggesting it S.D.

Glad you enjoyed it. Yep, it's stupid, but "clever stupid".

Awesome movie, a regular watch whenever it came on network TV in the 90's, and I just revisited it with a big smile on my face. One of the best cult films around, and Goldblum's finest hour outside of The Fly.
