| 2011 has been a dry year for me when it comes to new music that moves me. What are your favorite music releases of 2011 so far?
The only ones I can think of that amazed me were:
DOOMRAISER - Mountains of Madness ORCHID - Capricorn
Haven't heard the new Alice or Anthrax yet.

| I really don't know, to be honest, cuz I have cut back severely on buying CDs so I haven't heard much at all. The only two 2011 releases I've heard have been Stryper's COVERING and Anvil's JUGGERNAUT OF JUSTICE. I like'em both fine, for whatever that's worth, but beyond that I got nuthin'.
I plan on picking up the new Megadeth when it comes out in Nov. and I'll probably pick up the new Anthrax at some point too, otherwise, 2011 In Music will go down as The Year I Wasn't There.

| Yeah, but it's a collaboration with Lou Reed, so it's only sorta Metallica. | |

| The main two releases I've been waiting for both come out this month; Steven Wilson and Opeth.
I haven't really been exploring many new albums so far this year, but we're not done as stated above so I'll wait and see how the entire year plays out prior to making a call.
Some I've enjoyed:
Blood Ceremony - Living With The Ancients Earth - Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light Graveyard - Hisingen Blues Orchid - Capricorn Premonition 13 Soundgarden - Live On The I-5 Yes - Fly From Here Yob - Atma

Graveyard Blood Ceremony Yes Dream Theater Anvil Proto Kaw
and I'll more than likely pick up Orchid, Opeth, SW, Megadeth and Anthrax this year.

| Pretty good year for me so far. Albums I really like:
Dream Theater Anvil Anthrax Alice Cooper Opeth (thx to SD for the recommendations on this board!) Stryper
Looking forward to: Megadeth, Chickenfoot, Metallica/Lou Reed
Waiting for release dates: Iron Maiden Live Blu-Ray/DVD (Final Frontier tour) and Maiden England (which I understand will be out next year on DVD/Blu-Ray instead of this year. It is a done deal and will come out)

Nah, I'm not that hardcore. Probably just the version with the DVD. Same with the Opeth, I'd love to buy the box set but I'll probably just settle for the 1 CD/1 DVD version that retails for $14. ...unless I see it in Amoeba Records and can't pass it up that is.

| 2011 is starting to shape up toward the end of the year (Anthrax, Cooper, Megadeth, etc), but the first half was kinda on the weak-ish side of things. The few I really dig in no particular order:
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light Wino - Adrift Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare Ghost - Opus Eponymous Beady Eye - Different Gear, Still Speeding
The new Motorhead and Social Distortion left me cold. I had high hopes for both, but they've both been "meh". Some others that I've got this year that have been decent or even pretty good, but nothing mind shattering:
Firebird - Double Diamond Black Country Communion - 2 Premonition - 13 Atomic Bitchwax - The Local Fuzz Duff McKagen's Loaded - The Taking Graveyard - Hisingen Blues Cauldron - Burning Fortune Anthrax - Worship Music (although repeated spins could move this up in the final runnings, still too new)
In fact, probably all of those listed could use some repeated spins. I just don't dedicate enough time to new tunes like I used to.

| I still think Ghost's Opus Eponymous is the best album of the year. | |

I need to hear the Wino & Earth...

Wow...it's IMO one of their Top 3 albums...easily as good as TINLTL and TCATS...for me, its one of those albums that's so good, it seems like it's over too quickly...every song is a killer.

| I'll give it another listen in the near future, ever since the day it came out nothing stood out for me. | |

| Next year seems to be gearing itself up for some good music...maybe.
Black Sabbath, John Mayer, Van Halen, Chickenfoot (I have a feeling they'll release an album in late '12).
