T
Intriguing...honestly I'd like to see what Dug and Wino would come up with lyrically.

Cornell seems like the odd man out in that mix, interesting though. Maybe Petrucci could learn some restraint from Hackett.

I think I've found the lineup for the most obnoxious prog group of all time:

Keith Emerson-keyboards
John Wetton-bass
David Surkamp-vocals
Neil Peart-drums
David LaFlamme-violin
Steve Howe-guitar

Agreed on both but I think Cornell could do it. I put Hackett w/Petrucci for that exact reason...

The Perfect Prog-Power band?:

Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin - Vocals
Jim Matheos - Guitar
Chris DeGarmo - Guitar
Mark Zonder - Drums
Steve DiGeorgio - Bass

What do y'all think?

To make it slightly less obnoxious, I'd do:

Patrick Moraz - Keyboards
John Wetton - Bass/Vocals
Bill Bruford- Drums
Steve Hackett - Guitar
Jean Luc-Ponty - Violin

I tried to keep it to artists who hadn't worked together.

I'd like that, for some reason I think Terry Bozzio would bve kewl behind the kit. Man, I bet even the name of the band would kick ass...great one, Met!

Interesting, though I've never been a fan of Daisley's bass playing, for instance his bassline to Crazy Train is horrid.

He was a good songwriter, I just don't think his bass playing is anything special. "Workmanlike".

I agree with everything you both said but I chose Bob due to his songwriting abilities, the'd be the perfect yin to Dio's yang. Also, the guitars would lay down enough of a more foundational riffthan what Rhodes did (not that he couldn't but he never really did) that Bob could play under them well enough.

Great points, gentlemen.
