- Freddy. You do realize you can get really decent used stereo equipment from ebay and craigslist. I've seen really good amps for under $20 and there are speakers, CD players and turntables galore. You could probably put together a really decent mid-grade system for under $100.
Oh yeah, I know, but as I said, I hardly ever listen to music around the house anymore so I just haven't bothered. Someday when the kids are older and not in my back pocket all the time and I can actually sit back and ENJOY music in the evenings again without constant interruptions, then I'll worry about it.

| I'm just looking for convenience, and not complete shit quality with the earbuds.
I'm thinking maybe in the 70 dollar range for the over-the-ear headphones. Any specific suggestions?

What did you end up getting? My Sonys finally gave up the ghost and I bought a pair of Grado SR60e Prestige Headphones on sale.

My Sonys finally gave up the ghost and I bought a pair of Grado SR60e Prestige Headphones on sale. Damn, I actually completely forgot what brand I got, as I haven't had them in probably a good two years. I let my kid sister borrow them and she broke them clean in half, haha. I remember I got them at Best Buy and they were around 70-80 bucks. Since then I've just been using some not-the-shittiest out there earbuds I got from Walgreens for 20 bucks. I'm thinking before I go off to college this fall I'm gonna get a pair of Sennheiser HD 280s so I can listen to music in my dorm without disturbing the poor soul who I'm gonna room with. Otherwise I hope they like eclectic music.

| My only recent equipment change was getting a set of Audio Technica Studio Monitor headphones, love them.
I also have been slowly putting a workstation together, I have an ancient Mackie mixer that I saved from being thrown out (I need to take it apart and clean it) and also got a set of powered studio monitors given to me...so far my investment is $0. Now I just need to win the lottery and get another Mac.

| I added an AKAI GX-4000D to the system: The deal included 30 used tapes. | |

| Ok, I ended up emailing my local shop and asked if he happened to have a Pioneer RT-707. He sure did! Serviced and ready to go. I did have him bias towards the new RMGI LPR 35 tape(RMG/Pyral and ATR are the only new tape manufacturers) as I will be recording on that. I might get an ATR just to check it out since ATR is made in the US(RMG is now owned by the French company Pyral). That's it! My stereo setups are now pretty much complete. Outside of paying for maintenance and new tech, like a blu ray and I would still like to get blue tooth into the system I'm done. For now, this will be in the music room because it is less dusty in there and the Akai will end up in the living room until the dust settles down from the bathroom remodel. | |
