| What are your favorite Westerns?
I'll take a stab.
1. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (Jimmy Stewart & John Wayne) 2. The Searchers (John Wayne & Natalie Wood) 3. Once Upon A Time In The West (Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson) 4. The Ox-Bow Incident (Henry Fonda) 5. A Fistful of Dollars (Clint Eastwood)

| The only Westerns I ever really got into were Spaghetti Westerns.
1. High Plains Drifter 2. The Outlaw Josey Wales 3. True Grit (The lone exception to the Eastwood rule) 4. A Fistful Of Dollars 5. For A Few Dollars More

You need to rectify that man, it's about a group of prostitutes that quit the business and head north to better there lives and get caught up in some crazy shit with some outlaws. One perk for me was Drew Barrymore is one of the prostitutes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

| Does 'Back to the Future III' count? While I generally enjoy them, it's not a genre that I frequently watch over and over. If I saw it once, that's usually enough for me. The 'True Grit' remake was good, but I doubt I'd watch it again. That being said, I will watch 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' anytime it's on. | |

| The Outlaw Josey Whales is good, but it's not nearly as good as it's reputation. Far better westerns and Eastwood has done better work as well.
The whole "western Death Wish" vibe is the main reasons people still watch it.

| 10. Pale Drifter 9. Treasure of the Sierra Madre 8. The Searchers 7. Once Upon A Time... 6. El Topo 5. High Noon 4. Good, Bad, Ugly 3. Rio Bravo 2. My Darling Clementine 1. The Wild Bunch
But that's nowhere near definitive except for Wild Bunch. I've watched westerns religiously over the years, and I could probably count on both hands the number of bad ones. And let's not forget TV's sensational Young Riders!

| I need to find a way to get El Dorado on my list. Yes, I know it is Howard Hawks remaking the same film he made 10 years earlier (Rio Bravo). Doesn't matter, El Dorado is better all the way around. Robert Mitchum man...
Red River is another Howard Hawks film worthy of mention here, it's a wagon train version of Mutiny On The Bounty.

| Still haven't seen El Dorado. I've heard so much about Mitchum's performance but can't imagine it being any better than Rio Bravo, which is so damn perfect. I should bump Dorado up on my list.
Good call on Red River. That was a regular for me as a kid. I'd love to see it again.
Howard Hawks is a god. | |
