Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull are getting ready to release Thick As A Brick 2, the sequel to the classic concept album from 1972.
Steven Wilson (fresh from the Aqualung remix) handled the mix of the new album as well as a remix/remaster of the original Thick As A Brick.
Here is a short blurb from Steven Wilson's facebook page:
I recently had the pleasure of mixing the new Ian Anderson / Jethro Tull album, which is a follow up to the classic Thick as a Brick album from 1972. TAAB2 is very much in the tradition of the first album, a continuous 54 minute concept piece with a similar musical palette and style. It's just been officially announced for release in April as a CD/DVD (including a 5.1 mix and stereo in high res), more details on the Tull website. I also completed mixes for a 40th anniversary surround sound edition of the original Thick as a Brick, though not sure when that is coming out.

Sounds good...I'm most eager for the Wino album so this won't be a release day purchase.

Wouldn't this have made more sense in like...1980? I dunno, it just seems like every time a band tries to do a sequel to an album LONG after the original album, it's never a good thing.
But oh well, I'll never say no to Tull.

Not many artists are still around to follow-up an album released 40 years earlier. I'm not expecting a 1970's album, because it's 2012. I'm just glad Anderson still wants to write and record music.

TAAB2 in the 80s woulda been horrible...that 80s sound w/the synthed drums, etc. is horrible...

Yes because Tull's electro-pop period was widely criticized.

Official trailer for the new album, including a few snippets of audio and Ian Anderson's droll humor of course.

I'm digging it, I think I'm gonna jam the original TAAB after I'm through with this one.
