I just finished reading an amazing book about Roger Corman ("Crab Monsters, Teenage Cavemen and Candy Stripe Nurses: Roger Corman, King of the B Movie") so I'm thinking of digging back into some of his oldies that are on this "50 Horror Classics" box set I've got on the shelf, like "Dementia 13" ...
I've read that, damn entertaining book.
Hell yeah, it was. I blew thru it in two days!! Haha. There were tons of great stories, plus it was loads of fun looking at all the vintage movie posters and artwork.
Inspired by the book, I did indeed watch "Dementia 13" on this rainy/snowy afternoon. Not a great flick by any means but it was a fun, no budget "Psycho" knock-off. Hard to believe that Francis Ford Coppola went from this to "The Godfather" in just over ten years.

If you watch Pink Floyd's The Wall while tripping on acid it makes complete and total sense, in fact it's practically a mainstream film under those circumstances.

Not a big fan of that movie but all of a sudden I feel like giving it a second try.

We're expecting more snowy weather this week so I should have plenty of time to watch movies.
I just got a Roger Corman double-feature DVD from the library, a pair of his vintage early 60s Edgar Allan Poe adaptations: "The Pit and the Pendulum" and "Fall of the House of Usher." Never seen either one but after reading a book on Corman I've been checking out as many of his golden oldies as I can. I've also got his "The Terror" (1963) with Boris Karloff and a young Jack Nicholson (!) in the on-deck pile.
Last night I re-watched "From Russia With Love" on Netflix. From that I am moving onto this bit of weirdness that I just learned about after reading a book on Sean Connery: "OK Connery," aka "Operation Big Brother," a 1967 Italian made Bond spoof/ripoff which stars Sean's lookalike brother Neil as a substitute secret agent. Gotta love YouTube sometimes!

Mo'movies, mo'movies, mo'movies...
"OK Connery" was a hoot. It was a poorly dubbed, random piece of junk that didn't really make a lick of sense but it was fun seeing all these nods to the Bond series that stopped just short of copyright infringement. Funnily enough, there's another copy of the movie on YouTube that re-edits it to include the 007 "Gun Barrel" sequence and the Bond theme and is passing it off as a "lost' Sean Connery Bond film... and people were dumb enough to fall for it! There are comments like "I've never heard of this movie, when was it released? Before or after Thunderball?" Hahahaha, fuckin morons!!
"The Living Daylights" - will post a more thorough review in the James Bond Thread, for now, let's just say that Dalton deserved a better vehicle than this for his debut as Bond.
"House of Usher" - charming, campy retro '60s terror fun, sorta like an American answer to England's Hammer horror films. Vincent Price was so awesome.
Next up: "Pit and the Pendulum"

The Poe films were really the highest quality productions Corman ever did. He was trying to capture the tone of the British horror films of the era.

Bosch - Season 1 (Amazon Prime)
Person Of Interest - Season 2. One of those shows where you watch it for the characters, because you've seen all the rest a million times before.

Recent Views:
"Airplane!" and "Airplane II: The Sequel" - I will never get tired of these movies. Ever. "II" has a bad rap due to its lack of Leslie Nielsen but William Shatner's crazed last-reel performance as lunar base commander Buck Murdock steals the movie.
"Zombieland" - America's answer to "Shaun of the Dead." This was my third or fourth viewing and it's still a hoot.
"Godzilla" (2014) - finally! A mega-budget Big G flick that managed to satisfy both my grown-up self and my inner 8 year old. Roland Emmerich's 1998 version has officially been erased from my memory banks.
"Easy Rider" - Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson ride motorcycles cross country, hang out with a bunch of different weirdos and do a lot of drugs. Heavy stuff maaaaaaaaan.
"I, Frankenstein" - Absolutely terrible CGI action/fantasy schlock that re-imagines Frankenstin's monster as the hero of a war between Gargoyles (the good guys) and Demons (the bad guys) ... yeah, I know. What the fuck?

I just compiled a YouTube playlist of the entire 15 chapter "Batman" movie serial from 1943...I haven't seen that in dog years. I used to have a crap quality VHS tape of it back around the time the first Tim Burton Batman movie came out. It'll be fun re-visiting that sometime soon.

Started The Rifleman with the wife. She's a bigger Western fan than I am so I have slowly introduced her to more than just Bonanza. The Rifleman is my all-time fave Western tv series.

I've been re-watching the first couple seasons of Supernatural.
Also watched the Netflix comedy series "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" which is a silly-on-purpose series by Tina Fey that is fairly close in tone to 30 Rock.
