Horace Silver, one of the most important jazz musicians to come out in the 1950's, his compositions helped establish the "Blue Note sound"....

Here's a killer version of John Coltrane's Naima, performed with much spirit and wild abandon by David Murray. Yes, it starts mellow...but stick with it!
