New Megs Album "Modern Sounding"?

More modern sounding has me kinda worried...kinda...

New song! I can't make out the lyrics too well though.

This seems like it'll be a good song as fer as the studio version goes though.

I like what I'm hearing so far.

What I've heard so far sounds good. Can't wait for it to come out.

I still haven't been able to find a sample of the new song that doesn't have video game sound effects all over it.

13 is done and comes out 11/1/11.

Always look forward to new MegaDave. This is an album though that I'm trying to avoid too much pre-listening or reading reviews and opinions. I want to hear it without any preconceived notions. Which is harder and harder in this day and age.

I think I'm more curious to hear the new Anthrax at this point. Until Dave changes up the guitar and drum chairs in his band I'm not going to have much interest.

It's Megadeth, what's not to like? Really.

Yeah, Dave is my all time fave guitarist and lyricist. He has a great rhythm and lead style. The drums are a little too samey sounding on the last few but it's kewl to see Junior back.

Ouch! maybe you need to give them a second chance, but it's true, nothing in my opinion measures up to Countdown.

I listened to a bunch of Megadeth about a year ago. I still like the era through Rust In Peace the best. Countdown was the last album that really "got me".

Dave is still very talented, I just wish he'd find a better group to surround himself with. Because right now they are way too generic.

I wouldn't say generic, Chris Broderick is a monster guitarist. His only problem is that he is too technical all the time. The band is too mechanical w/no groove. The System Has Failed is a great moremodern era Megadeth album.

They need more groove.

They have no groove because the drummer is a human metronome with no feeling whatsoever. The guitarist I can live with (though learning the other members old solos note for note bores me to tears), but the drummer is a deal breaker.

Yeah, I like Shawn Drover for the fact that he's all about the band but he's also all about the bland as well. I felt the same about Nick Menza, he threw all his creativity into RIP and merely stole from himself thereafter. I miss Gar...

Menza was at least a fiery drummer, he was great live.

Drover is passable, but that's not good enough for a band of Megadeth's stature.

'Tis true about Drover, hopefully with Junior back it'll bolster therhythm section. Dave needs to get back to more complex riffage as well.

Riffage isn't the problem...at least not on Endgame...the problem was pedestrian songwriting.

I think the riffage has been semi-pedestrian on the last two albums. UA was not so bad, it actually has a lot of good stuff on it. Endgame had potential but there is a lot of speed, heaviness, etc. but no energy. The songwriting was a little pedestrian as well.

Dave just needs to play whatever comes naturally to him and stop worrying about what all the fanboys want to hear.

Very true and in the end it didn't even sound like RIP, I do like when they do instrumentals though. I made a playlist of all the Metal instrumentals I have and it was too overwhelming so I narrowed it down to Megadeth and Metallica.
