| If you could record a covers album of your own what songs by what artists would you choose? The rules are simple: no more than 11 tunes per album and no more than one song from an artist per album. I'll do mine later b/c I'm brainstorming about it. | |

| should the album be covers for a specific band? or a "theme"?

| Neither, remember no more than one song by an artist per album. If you wanna make it a theme do it! Try to come up with a name for the album too! | |

| Okay, I'll have to think about it some more. I was kind of thinking along the lines of 10 different artists record Chuck Berry covers...but I'll vary it up more.

| Dude! Make a separate thread of that! That'd be kewl!! But let me clarify, if you the individual were in the studio with your band, what songs would you like to cover? | |

| Okay, I think I might be confused here. So this is a "compilation" not a "covers" album per se?
"cover" to me means bands recording songs already recorded by other artists.

| Yes covers ARE what you said but YOU are doing the "covering". You are the band covering other bands/artists songs. You choose what songs you'd like to cover on a covers album of your own. | |

| Nice title bro, that Rare Bird track is a pleasant surprise. That tracklist makes me wish someone would do just that! | |

| the Jethro Tull track was a b-side and the Trower is a "deep album cut", tried to vary it up some and not pick things that are too common.
I would probably re-arrange some of that stuff a good bit. The Floyd I imagine doing with a ton of different overdubbed guitars.
I dig your list as well, not enough people are hip to "What's Next To The Moon" and the Lizzy track is a nice selection.

| An all instrumental one:
1. Sirius (APP) 2. Fire On High (ELO) 3. Carbon Dioxide (Alphonse Mouzon) 4. Moorish Mode (The Advancement) 5. One Of These Days (Pink Floyd) 6. Gang Bang (Bakerloo) 7. Incident At Neshabur (Santana) 8. Rose In The Heather (Nazareth) 9. Banshee (Thin Lizzy) 10. Parisienne Walkways (Gary Moore) 11. Telstar (Tornados)
This one was the hardest to decide on, I coulda put tons upon tons of songs but I tried to keep it kinda diverse and able to showcase more than just guitar and the wankery therein.

| the heavy ballad playlist is cool, the instrumental one probably a tad difficult. Trying to figure out a different way to arrange Fire on High would be a pain in the ass.

| I'm going to personally record 'Don't Believe A Word' with the original arrangement taken from Life and the version that came out on Johnny The Fox and make it one whole song. I have a couple of other slow versions I might reference as well. | |

That's a real nice arrangement of that song. I like both versions, but it's cool to hear another. I'd like to do a version of "Spirit Slips Away" at some point, that's an amazing song.

| Very nice list! Quite a few surprises. The only ones I'm not surprised to see are 2 and 6, that J. Geils track was a complete surprise. I like early J. Geils and they have two great live albums called 'Full House' and 'Blow Your Face Out'. | |

| My covers album would be called AN EVENING WITH FAT FREDDY.... on the album cover, I would be posed in a tuxedo and holding a dry martini. I would cover: Punk and Belligerent - Warrior Soul Too Tough To Die - Ramones Eat the Rich - Motorhead 20 Eyes - Misfits All the Fools Sailed Away - Dio Awake - Deliverance Saturday Night (High N Dry) - Def Leppard Four F Club - Mentors Metal Inquisition - Piledriver These Boots - Megadeth ...and the Japanese bonus track would be a death metal version of Richard Harris' "MacArthur Park" (y'know, the "Someone left the cake out in the rain..." song.) | |
