I'm happy that Opeth and Steven Wilson have been working for you. I don't feel like the sole idiot singing their praises all the time.

I'm happy that Opeth and Steven Wilson have been working for you.  I don't feel like the sole idiot singing their praises all the time.  

It is rather weird how they're not discussed more. Communion is filled with 'metallic' moments that are pretty much breathtaking but I'm hearing strings of complaints of Opeth going soft. There's genius in their work (and Steven's) that is going unnoticed because no one wants to invest any time into it.

Of course I have you to thank for introducing me to their later works (I admit I admire them more from Damnation on), as well as Steven's work. Props.

I think the more you listen to the earlier Opeth albums, the more you'll like them. I also think watching those DVDs I recommended will help in the appreciation of the heavier material, it did in my case.

The live material is next; that's what I'm really looking forward to. I've always enjoyed Still Life and Blackwater, it's just that I get 'tuckered out' after a bit. I'm also digging My Arms Your Hearse with each spin. Damnation and Deliverance have me spellbound.

Basically if I were to rank the albums the list would simply tread from newest to oldest, although I still have yet to dig into Ghost.

The first three of the Iron Maiden re-issues arrived - 180 gram vinyl using the original audio masters:

I would love to have those Iron Maiden vinyl reissues, but can't really afford it at the moment. I might buy a couple of the individual releases down the road.

...plus an oddball: a 5 song EP by somebody called "Sin City Rebels," with no booklet or cover. They were apparently a Jersey based glam/sleaze act, and they released this in 1992. Anyone here familiar with it? I don't even see it listed in RateYourMusic.

From what I can tell it's members of Vixen and Madam X, all-female band. Probably a failed project. Other than that I can't find it anywhere--you may have struck gold, FF.

^^ Yeah, the Vixen/Madam X project is all I come up with when I Google, but this is a different band (the members' names are listed on the disc and they're all dudes)... I almost wish it was a disc by that band, this is pretty low budget stuff by a local yokel Jersey Shore area act by the same name, apparently. Oh well. (SIGH)

...oh, and the fact that it has no cover or booklet is already buggin' the hell out of my collector's O.C.D., haha.

Been waiting for this and I just found out it was released in Canada and Australia in September!!!

I ordered it but took the opportunity to get it by other means to hold me over...

I still haven't had a chance to get the new King Crimson live album that was recorded here in L.A. last October. Or the new Beardfish which I really want. Even though I can get them cheaper online I do like going to local record stores to purchase stuff instead, hoping some of them will survive for a while longer.

BIG TIME Metal score at the thrift store today! Some possible trade bait but a few keepers as well. I haven't hit a motherload like this in awhile...

It's really a stunning album. I think it's Wilson's most impactful and emotional album. All of his solo albums have been great, but this one really is greater than the sum of its parts, it's a complete statement.

Stunning for sure, that's why I want the 4 disc version. I didn't expect it to be so wonderfully Proggy and upbeat especially after reading what the album was about. I expected a darker more melancholy "Insurgentes".

I scored Pink Floyd-The Wall [Immersion] from a friend but just the files. I wanted Wish You Were more but I'm happy to have this one and he'll hook me up with the rest.

Sampled a bit of this but will jam it in full tomorrow.
